Punter wins £1,250 after mistakenly betting on MK Dons to beat Manchester United

A punter has been made £1,250 richer after accidentally betting that MK Dons would beat Manchester United 4-0 in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Louis van Gaal's first match in the tournament ended in a shock defeat as the League One club thrashed United in the second round.

Holly Griffiths has claimed on Twitter that she initially meant to bet £2.50 on United to end victorious with that scoreline, but she ended up putting the money on a 500/1 bet for MK Dons to upset the Red Devils.

United are yet to win a game in the Premier League, having lost to Swansea City and settling for a draw against Sunderland.
