Video: Phil Bardsley's 'knockout punch' on Wayne Rooney mentioned in WWE show

Wayne Rooney's recent boxing bout with Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley appears to have attracted the attention of American wrestling.

A clip emerged last weekend showing the Manchester United striker apparently getting knocked out by a punch during a sparring session at his Cheshire home.

This week, during an episode of WWE raw, wrestler Nikki Bella knocked AJ Lee to the ground, which the commentator likened to Bardsley's punch on Rooney.

The England captain laughed off the incident by pretending to get knocked out while celebrating his goal in United's 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
