A number of Manchester United fans have made it clear that they no longer want Ashley Young at Old Trafford as he received a barrage of abuse on Twitter.

The 28-year-old expressed his excitement at the news that United will begin their Premier League season with a home clash against Swansea City following the release of the 2014-15 fixtures.

Young wrote: "Nice to start the season with a home game. Swansea again opening day... can't wait!!!"

While some United fans shared Young's excitement, numerous supporters took the opportunity to mock the winger and call on the club to sell him this summer.

One user wrote, "don't tell me you're not leaving," while another tweeted, "think you've read the fixtures wrong mate. Man United are at home to Swansea. Lord knows where you'll be".

Young also received tweets that read, "you'll be gone by then pal," and "shut the fuck up and retire".

The new season will be the first campaign under manager Louis van Gaal, who is currently coaching the Netherlands squad at the World Cup in Brazil.
