Woodward pleased with financial results

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has claimed that the club's "very strong" financial performance for the second quarter will enable the English side to 'continue competing at the highest level'.

The headline news to come out of the report was that Man United's commercial revenue had risen 42.5% to £66.1m.

Woodward is currently holding a conference call with investors and the 44-year-old has revealed that he was very pleased with the results that were released on Thursday.

"Our financial performance from the second quarter was very strong. This continued strength will enable us to compete at the very highest level," said Woodward.

Man United's debt has also gone down by around £20m.
