Girlfriend of Manchester United's James Wilson hits back at cruel tweet

The girlfriend of Manchester United striker James Wilson has hit back at an Australian bookmaker after a cruel tweet was posted about her.

Frankie Barwell was photographed walking hand in hand with her 19-year-old partner at United's end-of-season awards on Tuesday night.

On Twitter, bookie Oddschecker posted a photo of the couple and added the caption: "Sure she's a lovely girl but someone needs to remind James Wilson he's a pro fooballer. Start abusing this privilege."

The bookmaker eventually apologised after receiving hoard of tweets labelling the post "rude" and "disgusting".

Ms Barwell, who is a student at Manchester Metropolitan University, has also had her say as she uploaded a picture to Instagram with the message: "Remember, people only rain on your parade because they're jealous of your sun and tired of their shade."

Wilson delivered his own message of support by commenting on his girlfriend's picture with a heart emoticon.
