Sir Alex Ferguson: 'I used to smuggle in goods from European away days'

Ferguson used to smuggle goods

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he used to smuggle in goods to the United Kingdom following trips with his team to various European countries.

The Scotsman has claimed that he saved money a number of times when coming back from European Cup trips with the Red Devils.

"I brought a lot of stuff back," said Ferguson. "In those days nobody checked. You got on the plane and there'd be boxes of this, boxes of that, your bag would be full of stuff. Nobody bothered."

Ferguson also revealed that he took home crystal glass from Czechoslovakia on one of his trips.
