Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand eyes role as new James Bond

Ferdinand: 'I could be Bond'

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he would be comfortable playing famous fictional secret agent James Bond.

The 34-year-old has set his sights on embarking on a film career and has claimed that he would prefer to play an "emotional part".

"I'd go for an emotional part, something off the wall," Ferdinand told FourFourTwo magazine.

"I've got too much for a henchman role. I'd need for it to be, I dunno, like Luther. Or if they're looking for a new James Bond, I wouldn't say that's out of my comfort zone at all."

The centre-back has been playing for the former Premier League champions since 2002.
