David de Gea's girlfriend Edurne Garcia denies criticising Manchester

David de Gea's girlfriend Edurne Garcia has rubbished reports that she dislikes Manchester.

The Spanish singer, who has been in a relationship with the Manchester United goalkeeper for many years, was quoted as saying that the North-West city is "ugly as hell".

"They put words in my mouth," Garcia told Europa Press. "I haven't said that.

"I don't know if they are seeking out the news or they want to be controversial, but it surprises me when I saw everywhere this sentence that I have never said. I am delighted with Manchester, I love it, and the city has wonderful corners."

The comments fuelled rumours that De Gea could leave United to return to Spain following speculation that Real Madrid are interested in signing him.
