Computer glitch gives Manchester United fans shirt discount

Over 4,000 Manchester United fans buy the club's new kit for less than half price because of a computer problem.

A computer error has allowed over 4,000 Manchester United fans to purchase the club's new kit for less than half price.

The new Chevrolet-sponsored shirt went on sale for £55 or £92 for a complete kit, but a glitch with the club's shop listed the items at £22 and £37 respectively.

The club said in a statement: "United Direct, the club's official online megastore, which is run by our e-commerce partner Kitbag, sent out communications which contained details of an erroneous discount code to our fans around the globe, this offer has now ended.

"United Direct will honour all consumer orders placed using this discount code, an approach which is fully endorsed by the club."

It is estimated that the mistake will cost the team around £200,000.
