Police 'search Pep Guardiola's jet for fugitive Catalan leader'

Spanish police have allegedly searched a private jet owned by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola while hunting for the fugitive former president of Catalonia.

Officers twice looked over the plane when it arrived in Barcelona from Manchester, believing that Carles Puigdemont may have been on board, according to The Times.

Guardiola, a long-time supporter of Catalonian independence, is not believed to have been on board when the searches took place, though a car his youngest daughter was travelling in is also said to have been inspected.

Puigdemont, who faces charges of rebellion and sedition in Spain, in relation to a failed secession declaration, is at risk of being arrested if he returns to his home nation.

Meanwhile, Guardiola has been charged by the FA for "wearing a political message, specifically a yellow ribbon" in support for imprisoned politicians in his native Catalonia.
