Rodgers writes personal letter to bereaved fan

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has written a heartfelt letter to a supporter who is dealing with the loss of their grandfather.

The Northern Irishman gave his personal condolences to Joe Nelson after learning of the death of season-ticket holder Roy.

In the letter, which has been posted on Twitter, Rodgers wrote: "As one of our supporters and a season ticket holder for many years, Roy is part of our LFC family and always will be.

"Nothing we say will recompense your loss but I extend my deepest sympathies and I want you to know that all our thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time."

The gesture is similar to one that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made three months ago when he contacted a widow following the death of her husband.
