Report: Liverpool cancel Borussia Monchengladbach friendly over Rhian Brewster interest

Reds cancel Gladbach friendly over Brewster?

Liverpool have reportedly cancelled their pre-season friendly with Borussia Monchengladbach due to the German club's interest in Reds youngster Rhian Brewster.

The 18-year-old is believed to be on the radar of the Bundesliga side, while Liverpool are thought to be hoping to integrate the player into the first team next term.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside outfit believe that Brewster has been contacted by Monchengladbach without permission and have decided to cancel the Anfield friendly between the two teams on August 7.

The report also claims that Liverpool officials have written to Monchengladbach warning them over their conduct, with a formal complaint to FIFA potentially on the cards.

Brewster was offered a professional contract by Liverpool on his 18th birthday, on April 1, but it has not yet been signed by the teenager.
