Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva appears to have sent abuse to a fellow Twitter user after he was jokingly given a worth of £3 and a "bag of midget gems".

The Brazilian, who was named on the standby list of his nation's World Cup squad, launched a dig at a fan's mother after a tweet about his possibly being sold by the Reds this summer.

The Twitter user, who appears to be a Liverpool fan, posted a joke saying: "#LFC can also now announce the sale of @LucasLeiva87 to @Inter for £3 and a bag of midget gems."

According to the fan, who has the Twitter handle @SuperSubLFC, Lucas followed his account and described him as a "prick" in a direct message, before blocking the supporter.
