Former Liverpool player Andrea Dossena is reportedly arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods in London.

Former Liverpool player Andrea Dossena has reportedly been arrested by police for allegedly shoplifting at upmarket department store Harrods in London.

The 33-year-old Italian, who now plays for League One side Leyton Orient, and a 31-year-old woman, believed to be his girlfriend, were arrested by the authorities at the store in Knightsbridge.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the incident involving Dossena, who left Anfield in 2010, occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police arrested a 33-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman on April 7 on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods.

"They were taken to a west London police station. Both the man and woman have been bailed to a date in late April, pending further enquiries."

The Italian footballer joined Liverpool back in 2008 from Udinese, but has since played for Napoli, Sunderland and Orient.
