FA in talks to sell Wembley to Fulham owner

Fulham and Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan has launched a bid to purchase Wembley Stadium from the Football Association.

The FA has confirmed that an offer, thought to be worth up to £800m, has been received from an unnamed bidder.

According to the London Evening Standard, car parts tycoon Khan is the man in contention to purchase the stadium, potentially placing it in the hands of a foreign owner for the first time.

Should the takeover go through, with talks said to currently be at an early stage, more American Football games would be expected to be staged at the London venue in the future.

The same report also suggests that fewer England internationals will be staged at Wembley, which was finished in 2007 at a cost of almost £800m.
