Crystal Palace express sorrow following death of footballer in Shoreham air crash

Crystal Palace offer their sympathies following the death of footballer Jacob Schilt in the Shoreham air crash on Saturday.

Crystal Palace have offered their condolences to the family of Worthing United footballer Jacob Schilt, who died in the Shoreham air crash on Saturday.

Schilt and teammate Matthew Grimstone are two of the multiple fatalities from the crash, which occurred on the A27 when a Hawker Hunter plane failed to complete a loop while performing at the Shoreham Airshow.

Following the news, Palace expressed their sorrow over the death of Schilt, who played for Brighton & Hove Albion in the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund match against Palace in April.

A statement on the Eagles' official website read: "Crystal Palace Football Club would like to extend deepest sympathies to the family of Jacob Schilt, one of those who tragically lost his life in the Shoreham air crash on Saturday.

"Jacob represented the Seagulls in that game and was travelling on Saturday to play for Worthing United when the vehicle he was travelling in was hit by the aircraft on the A27. The club would like to send their warmest regards to the family of Jacob at this sad and very difficult time."

As of now, at least 11 people are thought to have died in the crash.
