Seven Crewe Alexandra players are arrested and released on bail in connection with an alleged sexual assault complaint.

Seven Crewe Alexandra players were arrested and released on bail for their involvement in a case of alleged sexual assault.

An incident regarding a woman in her early 20s was reported to police in Redruth, Cornwall, where the League One club have been preparing for the new season at a training camp.

A spokesman for the club told the Daily Mail: "I can confirm some players have been arrested.

"From what we know there are three arrested and two helping with inquiries over an alleged sexual assault. The details are a bit sketchy so we can't really comment at the moment."

The group has been told to return to the police station between September 30 and October 8.
