Chelsea steward sacked for Cesc Fabregas insult

A steward from Premier League club Chelsea is sacked after insulting Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas after the Blues beat Arsenal 2-0 in September.

A steward from Premier League side Chelsea has been sacked after being caught abusing Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas last September.

An eight-second video surfaced on social media on Thursday, which shows a steward, believed to be an Arsenal fan, branding Fabregas a "snake".

The midfielder, who represented Arsenal between 2003 and 2011, turned around to confront the steward after hearing the abuse, but was ushered away before an altercation could take place.

It is understood that the outburst happened after Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League towards the start of the season.

A Chelsea spokesman told The Sun: "The steward no longer works matches at Stamford Bridge."

Premier League leaders Arsenal will welcome 14th-placed Chelsea to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, where Fabregas is expected to receive a vocal welcome.
