Jose Mourinho interrupts David Luiz interview

Mourinho interrupts Luiz interview

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho interrupted a post-match interview with David Luiz to jokingly accuse the Brazilian of getting himself purposefully suspended.

Luiz picked up his fifth yellow card of the season during yesterday's 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, meaning that he will be suspended for the trip to face Southampton on New Year's Day.

During an interview after the game, Mourinho burst in on Luiz and Eden Hazard to tell his defender that he could now go to Portugal instead of joining the side for the match on Wednesday.

"He got a yellow card to be suspended against Southampton and goes to Portugal to enjoy. I'm making fun. But now he can go to Portugal," Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

After the light-hearted accusation, Luiz, who was booked five minutes into the second half for pulling the shirt of Joe Allen, insisted that he was unaware that one more caution would see him banned.

"I didn't know I had four yellows. But if he says I can have some days I'm happy of course," Luiz added.

Chelsea are currently just two points off the top of the Premier League table going into 2014.
