Benitez lays flowers as Hillsborough tribute

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez paid a personal tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster by laying flowers at the memorial site at Anfield.

The Spaniard made his return to the Merseyside club for the first time as temporary boss of the Blues yesterday in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.

The 53-year-old laid flowers outside the ground with a message that read: "For the 96. You'll Never Walk Alone. Rafael Benitez."

Ahead of the clash, Anfield observed a minute's applause for Hillsborough campaigner Anne Williams, who lost her battle with cancer last week.
