Burnley supporter hit with indefinite ban for 'racially abusing player'

Burnley announce that a supporter has been given an indefinite ban for allegedly racially abusing a Bradford City player during Saturday's pre-season friendly.

Burnley have announced that a supporter has been issued with an indefinite ban after allegedly racially abusing a Bradford City player during a pre-season friendly at the weekend.

After the Clarets' 4-1 win, a 30-year-old man from Accrington was interviewed by club officials.

It has been alleged that racial slurs were directed towards a member of the Bradford team during the friendly at the Northern Commercials Stadium last Saturday.

The man questioned will serve an immediate ban - subject to appeal - from all home and away matches.

A statement via Burnley's official website read: "An investigation is still ongoing by West Yorkshire Police, but Burnley Football Club would like to thank Bradford City Football Club and West Yorkshire Police for their assistance in this matter.

"In closing, the club would like to reiterate that we have a zero tolerance approach to any such behaviour and strongly condemn discrimination of any type."

A man involved in the incident who "voluntarily left the stadium" will not face any punishment.
