Burnley "extremely disappointed" with 'Dispatches' TV appearance

Burnley release a statement saying that they are "extremely disappointed" to have been featured in Channel 4's Dispatches programme on offensive football fan behaviour.

Burnley have released a statement saying that they are "extremely disappointed" to have been featured in Channel 4's Dispatches programme on offensive football fan behaviour.

A small number of Clarets supporters were filmed during a match last August at Brighton Hove Albion making homophobic chants at home supporters.

Following last night's airing of the show, Burnley have now asked fans to contact them if they know any information about those filmed being abusive.

"Anyone witnessing instances of racist, homophobic, sexist or any other unwarranted form of behaviour is asked to report this to the nearest steward, or member of club staff," read the statement on Burnley's website.

"The club will not tolerate behaviour of this kind and will take the strictest possible action to remove those responsible."

Burnley are on course to achieve promotion to the Premier League as they are five points clear in the automatic promotion places.
