Barcelona's Gerard Pique fined £7,600 for "derogatory behaviour" in police spat

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is reportedly fined £7,600 for his "derogatory behaviour" towards police officers during a road incident last October.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has reportedly been fined £7,600 for his 'derogatory and aggressive' nature towards police officers in Spain.

The 28-year-old is alleged to have expressed his anger towards the officers in question after his brother was fined for stopping his car in a bus zone for 15 minutes in the Port Olimpic area.

The police report on the incident alleged that Pique told one of the traffic officers: "You are envious of me because I am famous."

According to the London Evening Standard, the Spain international was fined by Judge Maria Ascuncion Gonzalez for displaying "derogatory behaviour and for being verbally aggressive".

Pique apologised on Twitter following the incident last year.
