Enrique 'to undergo appendicitis surgery'

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is reportedly due to undergo surgery today after being sent to hospital with acute appendicitis.

The 44-year-old, who was named as Gerardo Martino's successor last month, is said to have complained of serious discomfort.

According to Mundo Deportivo, doctors discovered that the ex-Celta Vigo coach was suffering with acute appendicitis following a series of tests.

Enrique played for Barca during his career, in which he helped the club clinch two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey final victories and a Cup Winners' Cup.
