Nekoda Davis grabs judo gold for England

Gold in the women's under-57kgs has gone to England's Nekoda Davis, who beat Scotland's Stephanie Inglis in this evening's final.

Davis, who is based at British Judo's Centre of Excellence in Walsall, came through a nail-biting semi-final with Canadian Jessica Kimklait which finished scoreless in the regulation four minutes, and so became the only semi-final of the day to be settled by a golden score in overtime.

She secured the gold medal win with a Waza-ari throw, which she followed up with a 25-seconds hold-down on Inglis to deny Scotland the victory.

However, there was better news for Scotland as Glasgow fighter Connie Ramsay, a defeated quarter-finalist earlier on Thursday, secured bronze when she pinned down Cameroon fighter Paule Sitcheping.
