Dustin Johnson maintains lead at Canadian Open

Dustin Johnson records a second-round 71 to retain a share of the lead at the Canadian Open.

Dustin Johnson has reached the midway point of the Canadian Open with a share of the lead after shooting a second-round score of 71.

The world number two dropped four shots during his opening four holes but he recovered to keep his place alongside Luke List, who also made it to the clubhouse with a 71.

Spanish prospect Jon Rahm is in third position with Kelly Kraft and amateur Jared du Toit, while Alex Cejka and Matt Kuchar are among a group of players three shots adrift of the lead.

Scotland's Martin Laird is in 21st place but world number one Jason Day almost missed out on the weekend after a disappointing 76 on Friday.

Between the fifth and 17th holes, Day dropped six shots to leave him on the brink of missing the cut but a birdie on the last ensured that the defending champion made it through to the final two days.
