Mackenzie Hughes survives triple-bogey to maintain RSM Classic lead in Georgia

Canadian Mackenzie Hughes remains atop the leaderboard at the RSM Classic in Georgia despite carding a triple-bogey in the penultimate round on Saturday.

Mackenzie Hughes has maintained his lead after the penultimate round of the RSM Classic after carding a 68 over the Seaside Course at Sea Island.

The Canadian rookie's advantage, however, was cut to one stroke following his two-under-par performance in Georgia on Saturday.

Hughes overcame a triple-bogey with five birdies and shot a 70 to take a narrow one-stroke margin over Camilo Villegas, Billy Horschel and Cheng Tsung Pan into the final round.

Colombia's Villegas carded a six-under-par 64 and ended the day with four consecutive birdies to surge into a share of second after the third round.

American Horschel, meanwhile, was flawless as he posted a blemish-free five-under 65, while Pan of Chinese Taipei had a third-round 67.

Chesson Hadley (67) is a stroke further back, while Patrick Rodgers (65), Charles Howell III (67) and Blayne Barber (68) are tied for sixth at 13 under.

Ollie Schniederjans (66), Henrik Norlander (66) and Stewart Cink (67) complete the top 10.
