Kevin Stadler beats Bubba Watson to Phoenix Open title

Stadler beats Watson in Phoenix

Kevin Stadler won his maiden PGA Tour title at the Phoenix Open, edging out fellow American Bubba Watson in Arizona.

Watson (71) had led after the first three rounds but surrendered the title by missing a five-foot putt on the final hole, which would have forced a playoff with Stadler, whose round of 68 got him to 16-under-par for the tournament.

Son of 1982 Masters winner Craig, Stadler won his first PGA title at the 239th time of asking to guarantee his place in Augusta for this year's Masters.

Canada's Graham DeLaet finished tied for second with Watson on 15-under.
