McIlroy in contention at Korea Open

Rory McIlroy has recorded a second-round 69 to reach the halfway stage of the Korea Open just two shots off the lead.

The world number six followed up a round of 70 on the opening day to remain in contention at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, but the Northern Irishman believes that he should have performed better during Friday's play.

The 24-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I'm driving the ball very well and for the most part, my iron play is pretty good.

"But I definitely missed a few opportunities out there. I definitely could have been a few shots better, but I'm in a good position going into the weekend and that's all you can ask for.

"I don't need to go out there and be overly aggressive, but I just want to get myself into a good position for Sunday if possible."

McIlroy has failed to win a tournament in 2013, recording just five top-10 finishes in 19 events.
