Woods misses cut at US PGA Championship

Tiger Woods could miss out on next month's Ryder Cup after missing the cut in the second round of the US PGA Championship.

The 38-year-old carded a second-round 74 to match his first-round 74 and finished on six-over-par, which left him five shots adrift of the cut mark.

He was a doubt for the tournament due to a back injury, and has now missed the cut at a Major for the fourth time in his career.

"I tried as hard as I could. Unfortunately, I just didn't play well. A pair of 74s isn't very good," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"It was tough. I hit a lot of shots out there. Seventy-four of 'em. It was a long day."

Woods will now have to rely on a captain's pick from Tom Watson, as he is no longer able to qualify automatically for the United States team at the Ryder Cup.
