Scott Verplank out for the season

Golfer Scott Verplank has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a wrist injury.

The 47-year-old underwent surgery on the problem last Friday and will take around five months to make a full recovery.

Despite carrying the injury for a number of months, Verplank managed to record three top ten finishes throughout the year, which has earned him nearly $1.2 million in prize money.
