England's Lee Slattery has finished one shot off the lead after day one of the Italian Open.

The 34-year-old carded a seven-under-par round of 65 at Royal Park, I Roveri, to end the day behind Sweden's Joel Sjoholm.

Another Englishman, Richard McEvoy, is one shot behind Slattery with six others.

Spain's Rafa Cabrero-Bello is one of 10 players on five-under, while Scotland's Alastair Forsyth heads a pack of 12, including Italian Francesco Molinari, on four-under.
