England's Lee Slattery ends the first day of the Italian Open one shot off the lead.

England's Lee Slattery has finished one shot off the lead after day one of the Italian Open.

The 34-year-old carded a seven-under-par round of 65 at Royal Park, I Roveri, to end the day behind Sweden's Joel Sjoholm.

Another Englishman, Richard McEvoy, is one shot behind Slattery with six others.

Spain's Rafa Cabrero-Bello is one of 10 players on five-under, while Scotland's Alastair Forsyth heads a pack of 12, including Italian Francesco Molinari, on four-under.
