Justin Rose has admitted that his Zurich Classic of New Orleans victory has given him a real confidence boost heading into a crucial run of tournaments.
The 34-year-old picked up his eighth PGA Tour win earlier this week after edging out American Cameron Tringale by a single shot.
Rose also finished second at The Masters earlier this month, which has seen him climb up three places to sixth in the latest world rankings.
"This is a great shot in the arm in terms of confidence, world ranking points and FedEx Cup points - and I've just got to keep it rolling," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "Yet earlier this year it looked impossible to win. I was struggling with my game and when you are in that position, winning seems very far off.
"I worked hard to sort that out with my coach Sean Foley.The first few months of the year I was chasing a different swing thought every day. In the last month, I've had the same thought waking up every day. And there's a couple of things I'm really proud of. That's six straight years with a win and it was great to play the final 66 holes without a bogey - that's probably a record for me.
"It also felt good to clinch this victory by making the clutch putts down the stretch. I don't think I've made a putt to win a PGA Tour event outright like that 14-footer on number 18 before. I shot 22 under to win here and that is not usually in my wheelhouse. So that gives me even more confidence for these big events coming up."
Rose will compete at the WGC Cadillac World Match Play later this week.
