Rory McIlroy clinches PGA of America's Player of the Year title

McIlroy named PGA Player of the Year

Rory McIlroy has been named the PGA of America's Player of the Year following his positive season that took him to the number one spot in the world rankings.

The Northern Irishman has clinched the PGA's Vardon Trophy for claiming the lowest scoring average of the season.

McIlroy won four times in the United States this year and matched Englishman and former world number one Luke Donald by topping the US and European money lists.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old is reportedly close to securing a multi-million dollar deal with global sports brand Nike.
