World number one Rory McIlroy is reportedly edging closer to signing a sponsorship deal with global sports brand Nike.
The Northern Irishman has been linked with the big-money move for some time and the impending agreement appears to be nearing after Jumeirah announced that they will not renew their sponsorship with McIlroy.
"Jumeirah became my first corporate sponsor when I turned professional back in 2007 and I would like to thank everyone at the company for their support in helping me become the player I am today," the Belfast Telegraph quotes McIlroy as saying.
Reports have claimed that the 23-year-old's potential deal with Nike will be worth £156m.
