GB&I make strong start in Seve Trophy

Great Britain & Ireland have made a strong start in the Vivendi Seve Trophy after establishing a 4-1 lead against Continental Europe in the opening fourballs in Paris.

Scott Jamieson and Ross Fisher were victorious against Peter Hanson and Raphael Jacquelin, while Jamie Donaldson and Simon Dyson defeated Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal.

Jean Van de Velde's team suffered a further setback when Robert Rock and Ian Poulter dispatched of Thomas Bjorn and Alexander Noren.

Paul McGinley's side were eventually outdone when Anders Hansen and Francesco Molinari came from behind to beat Mark Foster and Lee Westwood.

Continental Europe's hopes of salvaging another success weren't realised at the end of the day's play as David Horsey and Darren Clarke overcame Nicolas Colsaerts and Matteo Manassero.
