Luke Donald eager to end major championship drought

Donald targeting maiden major triumph

Luke Donald has insisted that he is closer than ever to winning his first major championship.

The former world number one is yet to record a victory in one of the four major tournaments despite enjoying a consistent run of form over the last few years.

Donald said: "I feel as if I am playing as well as ever at this stage in my career.

"Over the next few years I want to be in a position to win major championships and to continue to improve."

The 35-year-old will begin his new season at the Northern Trust Open in February.
