John Daly will miss this year's Open Championship after confirming that he faces a spell on the sidelines with an elbow injury.

Two-time Major winner John Daly has been ruled out of the Open Championship due to an elbow injury.

The American pulled out of the Greenbrier Classic with the injury and has confirmed that he could be out for up to four months.

Daly, who won the Open in 1995, has struggled for form this year and has missed the cur or pulled out on five occasions this season.

The Open Championship begins at Muirfield on July 18.
