Europe's Justin Rose: 'Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson both relentless at Ryder Cup'

Team Europe Ryder Cup player Justin Rose labels both Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson as "relentless", despite their contrasting personalities.

European Ryder Cup player Justin Rose has described both Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson as "relentless", despite their contrasting personalities.

Rose, who has partnered fellow Englishman Poulter at previous Ryder Cups, developed a formidable partnership with Stenson on day one at Gleneagles yesterday, winning both of his matches with the Swede as Europe fought back from behind in the morning to take a 5-3 lead after their best-ever foursomes performance.

"We talked about the strength of character in our team and we were able to come back with a record performance in the afternoon," he told Sky Sports News before his fourball match, again with Stenson, this morning.

While Poulter's passion and exuberance has been considered key in previous Ryder Cups, Stenson is much more cool and is nicknamed 'The Iceman' by his teammates.

"They're both incredibly focused out there on the golf course," added Rose when asked about the two characters.

"Obviously Poults charges himself with the atmosphere a bit more, Henrik just gets down and with it with his game. Still, both of them are pretty relentless out there."

Rose and Stenson are up against Team USA's Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar in the opening fourball match on day two.
