Danny Willett: 'Leading The Open is childhood dream'

Danny Willett reveals that leading at The Open is a "childhood dream".

Danny Willett has said that being among the leaders at the halfway stage of The Open is a "childhood dream", after carding a three-under-par 69 on day two.

The 27-year-old is the clubhouse leader after failing light forced Dustin Johnson to end his day at 10-under. The world number four will have to return tomorrow morning to finish his second round.

"It's a childhood dream and looking up there [at the scoreboard] its still a little bit surreal, but it's something I'm going to have to get used to otherwise there's no point in being up there," Willett told reporters.

"I'm going to rest up and I'm going to try and grind it out for another good weekend and hopefully I can be up there in two days' time."

Willett tied for 15th place in his previous appearance at The Open at Muirfield in 2013.
