Mickleson would "welcome" bad weather at the Open

Phil Mickelson has revealed that he would "almost welcome" bad weather at this year's Open Championship.

It was at last year's tournament where Mickelson managed a run in poor conditions to eventually finish second, and the American has said that because of last year bad weather might not be so bad.

"What was so fun for me about last year was that I was able to make a move in horrible weather," BBC Sport quotes Mickelson as saying.

"That excited me because historically I've not played well in bad weather. Now, I almost welcome it, in a sense."

The Scottish Open 2012 at Lytham gets underway tomorrow.
