Matt Kuchar desperate to record dream victory at Open Championship

Matt Kuchar is hopeful that learning from former champions will help him to realise a childhood dream at the Open Championship.

Matt Kuchar has admitted that it would be a childhood dream to record an Open Championship victory ahead of the opening round at Royal Liverpool.

The American has played alongside a number of former champions in preparation for the tournament, including Tom Watson and Tiger Woods, and he is hopeful that experience will help him over the next four days.

"I hope that gives me some kind of unique perspective and some of that Open mystique these guys have can rub off on me," Kuchar told members of the media at Hoylake.

"To win The Open would just be a dream come true. I think to do that was a childhood dream for all of us as starting out playing.

"It's unique and I'm still learning how to play in Britain. I could still use a little help but I'll enjoy it."

Kuchar will play with Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen in the first two rounds.
