Jean-Eric Vergne handed 10-place grid penalty

Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne is handed a 10-place grid penalty for the Spanish Grand Prix after one of the wheels came loose during practice.

Jean-Eric Vergne has been given a 10-place grid penalty for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix after one of his wheels came loose during practice.

The Toro Rosso driver lost one of his rear wheels after exiting the pits late in the second practice session at the Circuit de Catalunya this afternoon.

A statement from the FIA said: "This is regarded as a serious offence and the stewards are of the opinion that this was a significant breach of the safety requirements."

The team have also been fined €30,000 (£24,500) for the unsafe release.
