Christian Horner coy over Fernando Alonso speculation

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner refuses to confirm whether Fernando Alonso will be joining the team next season.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has refused to confirm whether Fernando Alonso will replace Mark Webber next season.

The world champions are currently looking for a new driver after Webber announced that he would be leaving Formula 1 when the current campaign is over.

When asked if Ferrari driver Alonso is in contention to join Red Bull, Horner told Sky Sports News: "Any conversations with any driver remain confidential but of course, there has been quite a few drivers who have expressed an interest in the seat as you can imagine.

"Is Alonso available? You ask him. We are going to take a bit of time to make the right decision. We have some great options and we don't need to be in a rush."

The season continues on August 23 with the Belgian Grand Prix.
