Nico Rosberg: 'I had to keep cool'

Nico Rosberg claims that he had to 'keep cool' to win the Monaco Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg has claimed that he had to 'keep cool' to win the Monaco Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

The German, who started the race on pole position, claimed first place to go back to the top of the driver rankings at the expense of Hamilton.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo completed the podium, while Fernando Alonso of Ferrari finished in fourth spot.

"It's another special day for me, for sure," Rosberg is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Lewis drove well and pushed me massively hard.

"The pressure was on but I kept it cool and pulled a bit of a gap at the end because of the refreshed tyres. Thanks to the team for all their great work."

The Formula 1 calendar continues on June 8 with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
