Lewis Hamilton keeps Italian Grand Prix win after tyre investigation

Lewis Hamilton's Italian Grand Prix win is allowed to stand after stewards investigated a potential breach in tyre pressure rules.

Lewis Hamilton's Italian Grand Prix win has been allowed to stand after stewards investigated a potential breach in tyre pressure rules.

The 30-year-old cruised to a relatively straightforward first-place finish in Monza, but with five laps to go his engineers told him to speed up, offering no explanation.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer announced that the left-hand rear tyre of Hamilton's Mercedes was 0.3 PSI below the specified minimum tyre starting pressure, but stewards decided not to sanction him or the constructors.

Hamilton's seventh victory in 12 races puts him 53 points ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, who was forced to retire from the race following engine problems.
