Lewis Hamilton beats Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg to Canadian Grand Prix pole

Lewis Hamilton beats Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg to pole position in Canadian Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday.

Lewis Hamilton has claimed pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

The Formula 1 world champion, who is looking to win his fifth race in Montreal and second in succession, was just six hundredths of a second faster than Rosberg as he claimed the 53rd pole of his career.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was third, just 0.116 seconds off pole, as Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo displaced teammate Max Verstappen for fourth by 0.248 seconds.

Meanwhile, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen took sixth from Williams's Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.
