Nico Rosberg: Pole position is "best place" for race

Mercedes's Nico Rosberg says that starting from pole position at Interlagos puts him in the "best place" to cut teammate Lewis Hamilton's championship lead.

Nico Rosberg has said that starting the Brazilian Grand Prix from pole position puts him in the "best place" to close the gap to championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes driver finished 0.3 seconds ahead of his teammate, who is 24 points ahead of him in the standings, for his 10th pole position of the season.

The German told reporters: "It's the perfect job only if it works out tomorrow. Up to now it has been going well. I'm in the best place to be for tomorrow, but I need to make it happen in the race.

"Pressure, it's similar. The adrenaline is there, the tension, the excitement. It's not been changing that much, I'm just here, I'm going for it, pushing myself to stay optimistic all the time. I have learned from Austin, I know what I need to do better so from that point of view, I look forward to tomorrow."

Even if Rosberg wins both remaining races this season, Hamilton will clinch his second drivers title if he finishes second in both races to the German.
