Lewis Hamilton: 'Jenson Button still valuable asset for any Formula 1 team'

Hamilton: 'Button valuable for any team'

Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton believes that Jenson Button is still a "worthy" driver for any team amid speculation that his fellow Brit could leave the sport.

McLaren are expected to make a decision regarding Button's future with the team after December 1, with some reports suggesting that Kevin Magnussen will be kept to partner Fernando Alonso next season.

"Jenson's been in Formula 1 for a long time, he's had an exceptional career, and he's still young," Mercedes star Hamilton told PA.

"I guess [the situation] just highlights how limited Formula One is. There are only 18 or 20 seats, but [Button] has proven time and again he is still a worthy competitor and a valuable asset for any team to have."

Hamilton competed alongside Button for the final two years of his McLaren stint.
