Heikki Kovalainen unsure of 2013 drive with Caterham

Kovalainen unsure of 2013 drive

Caterham's Heikki Kovalainen has admitted that he is unsure if he will have a place in Formula 1 next year.

The Finn revealed that his failure to bring money to the team could cost him a place in the sport.

When asked whether he'd be driving next year, Kovalainen told Sky Sports F1: "I don't know yet - it is as simple as that.

"It is all still up in the air waiting to see what Caterham does and then once we see that decision it will be more clear. So we are nowhere."

F1 teams are said to be struggling financially and Kovalainen feels that his reluctance to bring in sponsorship could cost him.

"I think it is down to money," he added. "I don't have money to bring and even if I did I wouldn't necessary do it.

"I think if you go that road, there has to be a clear plan and some clear results otherwise there is no point in that."

The 31-year-old could drive his last race for the team at the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.
